Holgate - Mt Macedon Ale
The Holgate Brewhouse Mt Macedon Ale is surprisingly good. Sometimes I’m suspicious of beers that stray away from the standard naming conventions: Pale Ale, Stout, Porter, IPA, Golden Ale, etc. How do you know what it will taste like? You have to risk buying something bland and unexciting. Thankfully this one doesn’t disappoint. Like other’s in the range (the Hopinator and Temptress are good examples) the Mt Macedon Ale is a good example of an american pale ale. Great hops and a honey flavour make this a good, easy drinker.
Imagine: Pre-dinner drinks with friends. It’s something they might not have heard of and will come as a bit of a surprise.. a good one too.
If this beer was an actor: Patton Oswalt. Not a regularly named one, but a good solid act and thoroughly enjoyable.
Rating: 8/10

I ran into a problem recently where someone needed me to compress a large number of IIS web log files (~40GB) for them to download.
For some reason they specifically wanted me to use Bzip2 compression. Unfortunately bzip2 doesn’t have a recursive option like gzip, 7-zip, etc.
To solve the problem I joined it (using Cygwin and the find command) like so:
find –name *.log –exec bzip2 –v {} :
There are obviously other options that allow you to keep the original file or choose the quality of compression you want, but you can check out the man page for that.

I’ve just received my Google Wave Invite and have invited a few others (although they don’t get sent out automatically). I’d only previously heard the hype and thought I’d try to get in early with the next Google thing (I remember getting my first Gmail account before it became open to all).
The interface is pretty quick and clean, although the functionality might take a bit of getting used to. I think I’m off to LifeHacker to catch up on Google Wave 101
